GOL Linhas Aéreas resumed its nonstop operations between Porto Alegre, Brazil, and Buenos Aires/Aeroparque, Argentina, this Monday after a nine-year hiatus. This move strengthens the airline’s presence in both the state of Rio Grande do Sul and its key international market.
Precise Itinerary and Enhanced Passenger Comfort
The flights are operated with Boeing 737 aircraft configured for international markets, with a capacity of 176 passengers. Departures from Porto Alegre occur on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 06:10, arriving in Buenos Aires at 08:00 (local time). In the opposite direction, flights depart from Jorge Newbery Aeroparque on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 22:25, landing in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul at 23:55 (local time).
This new operational schedule drastically reduces travel time between the two cities while reaffirming the operational capacity of Salgado Filho Airport.
“This route, which GOL had not operated for nine years, creates an opportunity to stimulate demand between Argentina and Rio Grande do Sul,” said Rafael Araujo, Director of Route Planning at GOL. He emphasized that Argentine passengers will not only be able to explore the vibrant city of Porto Alegre but also key tourist destinations in the region, such as Bento Gonçalves, Gramado, Canela, and the Gaúcho coastline.

GOL Leads Expansion Between Brazil and Argentina
With this reinstatement, Porto Alegre becomes the 13th Brazilian city from which GOL offers direct flights to Argentina. The list also includes Florianópolis, São Paulo/Guarulhos, Rio de Janeiro/Galeão, Belo Horizonte/Confins, Brasília, Porto Seguro, Salvador, Maceió, Recife, João Pessoa, Natal, and Fortaleza.
Thanks to its partnership with Aerolíneas Argentinas, passengers arriving at Aeroparque gain access to multiple domestic connections, including Bariloche, Mendoza, Córdoba, Ushuaia, and El Calafate.
Significant Capacity Increase in 2025
During the first half of 2025, the airline increased its capacity on the Brazil-Argentina corridor by 57%, adding new routes and more available seats. Currently, GOL operates regular, direct flights to five airports in four Argentine cities: Buenos Aires (Ezeiza and Aeroparque), Mendoza, Córdoba, and Rosario.
Additionally, between July and August, seasonal flights to Bariloche from São Paulo/Guarulhos will resume—a key route for winter tourism.
