Qatar Airways and Boeing Seal Historic Order for Up to 210 Wide-Body Aircraft

Qatar Airways has signed a historic agreement with Boeing for the purchase of up to 210 wide-body aircraft, marking the largest order of its kind in the history of the American manufacturer. The deal, which includes the largest-ever order for 787 Dreamliners and the biggest single order by the Qatari airline, represents a strategic move to bolster the company’s international expansion and support nearly 400,000 jobs in the United States.

Order Details: 787 Dreamliner and 777-9 at the Core of the Strategy

The agreement includes:

  • 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with ten of these previously recorded as unidentified orders.
  • 30 Boeing 777-9s, the world’s largest twin-engine aircraft.
  • Purchase options for 50 additional aircraft, split between 787 and 777X models.

This commitment reinforces Qatar Airways’ leadership in innovation and sustainability, aligning with its goal of operating the youngest, cleanest, and most efficient fleet in the industry.

A Signing Backed by Political and Corporate Support

The announcement was made during a ceremony attended by political leaders and top executives. Notable attendees included U.S. President Donald J. Trump and His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar. Also present were Kelly Ortberg, Boeing’s President and CEO; Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes; and Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engineer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

“We are thrilled to announce this agreement with Boeing, the largest aircraft order in our history. It is a pivotal step in our investment to maintain the cleanest, youngest, and most efficient fleet in global aviation. This will enable us to meet growing demand and connect the world better than anyone else,” said Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

“After two consecutive years of record commercial performance, this historic order is not just about scale—it’s about building resilience to continue delivering unmatched customer experiences and products,” Al-Meer added.

Stephanie Pope highlighted the significance of Qatar Airways as a strategic partner: “We are deeply honored that Qatar Airways has placed this record-breaking order with Boeing. It secures the future of their fleet with our market-leading wide-body aircraft family. A Further Step in Qatar Airways’ Global Expansion

Currently, Qatar Airways operates over 150 Boeing aircraft, including passenger models like the 777 and 787, as well as 777 freighters. With this new order, the airline will become the largest Dreamliner operator in the Middle East, solidifying its role as a key player in global commercial aviation.
