Iberia has launched the fifth edition of its cadet program, a strategic initiative to train the next generation of commercial pilots. The call for applications, open from May 12 to May 25, invites those who dream of flying professionally to apply through the airline’s employment portal. There, they will find all the requirements and conditions of the program, designed to select high-potential candidates and provide them with direct financial support for their training.

The program is conducted in collaboration with FTEJerez (Flight Training Europe), one of the most renowned international flight schools. This partnership allows aspiring pilots to obtain their Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) through a 50% co-financing model with no interest, fully supervised by Iberia.

Rigorous Selection and Continuous Monitoring

The airline not only participates in the initial selection process but also conducts ongoing performance monitoring of the cadets throughout their training. This system ensures that future pilots meet the highest standards in the aviation industry.

Upon completing their studies in Jerez, Iberia facilitates graduates’ entry into the job market through the various airlines within the Iberia Group. From that moment, the new pilots begin repaying the financial support they received during their training.

Impact and Real Opportunities in the Sector

To date, 51 pilots have joined Iberia after completing this program. In this new edition, 12 cadets will be selected to begin their training in September 2025.

Óscar Sordo, CEO of FTEJerez, emphasized: “We are proud that Iberia continues to rely on FTEJerez to train its next generation of pilots. This new edition of the cadet program reaffirms the trust placed in our center and highlights the momentum in commercial aviation, with a horizon full of opportunities for future professionals in the sector.”

For his part, Ramiro Sequeira, Iberia’s Director of Production, underscored the significance of this moment: “We are at a decisive juncture for training new generations in technical professions, especially in aviation. The anticipated shortage of professionals in the coming years underscores the urgent need to train new pilots who can meet the highest standards of quality and preparedness. FTEJerez, with its renowned track record and excellence in pilot training, is our natural partner to tackle this challenge and ensure our future pilots are perfectly prepared for the demands of the industry.”

This program represents not only a career opportunity but also a commitment to excellence and the development of young talent in aviation. With accessible financial conditions, top-tier training, and the backing of a leading airline, Iberia reinforces its commitment to the future of air transport and the sustainable growth of the sector.
