TAP Air Portugal inaugurated its new direct route between Porto and Boston this Wednesday. This connection, which marks a strategic step in the airline’s intercontinental expansion from northern Portugal, will operate four times a week until October 25, 2025.
Schedules Designed for Convenience
Flights will depart from Porto on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with takeoff times between 5:40 PM and 6:15 PM, varying by day. From Boston, flights will depart between 10:55 PM and 11:15 PM.
For TAP’s CEO, Luís Rodrigues, the launch of this route is not just about connectivity. He emphasized that the airline “supports the mobility of residents and communities” and that the influx of North American and Brazilian tourists will boost the local economy. TAP maintains an operational base in Porto with 368 employees, in addition to generating hundreds of indirect jobs in sectors such as aviation, tourism, and services.

Competitive Pricing
The route is operated with Airbus A321 Long Range aircraft, configured to carry 168 passengers, including 16 in business class. Round-trip tickets start at 529 euros, making this an affordable option for travelers between the two cities.
Beyond Boston: An Expanding Network
With this addition, TAP now connects Porto to two U.S. cities: Boston and Newark. From Lisbon, the airline flies to seven U.S. destinations: Boston, Chicago, Miami, Newark, New York, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Starting May 16, the Lisbon-Los Angeles route will be added, and from June 3, one of the Lisbon-San Francisco flights will include a stop in Terceira Island.
Porto: A Key Hub in TAP’s Strategy
Currently, TAP operates 17 weekly long-haul flights from Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport to destinations such as Newark, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Luanda, and now Boston. Additionally, there are 127 weekly medium-haul flights connecting Porto to cities like Paris, London (Gatwick), Geneva, Zurich, Luxembourg, and other domestic destinations.
The new route reinforces TAP’s role as a global connector from Portugal and solidifies Porto’s position as a key node in international aviation.
