Air India and Icelandair Announce Codeshare Agreement

Air India and Icelandair have formalized a new codeshare partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity between India and Iceland. The announcement was made public during the 81st Annual General Meeting of IATA held in New Delhi.

15 Strategic Routes Between India and Europe

The partnership includes a shared network of 15 key routes between India and Europe. Air India passengers will now enjoy seamless access to Icelandair-operated flights to Reykjavik from eight major European airports: London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Milan, and Zurich. All these routes will carry Air India’s flight code, ensuring a unified booking process and benefits such as integrated baggage handling.

Conversely, Icelandair customers will have convenient access to flights operated by Air India, connecting to Delhi from Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, and London Heathrow, as well as to Mumbai from Frankfurt and London Heathrow.

Beyond tourism, this partnership strengthens commercial ties between the two nations. Optimized connection times, unified baggage policies, and access to key European airport hubs significantly improve the passenger experience and make the route more attractive for frequent flyers and businesses.

Availability and Next Steps

The routes covered by this agreement will become progressively available through both airlines’ official sales channels once the necessary regulatory approvals are obtained.
