Bridges Air Cargo to Become First Operator of Embraer E-Freighter

Bridges Air Cargo, part of Bridges Worldwide and a key partner for logistics giants such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS, will be the first operator of the E190F, the new freighter version developed by Embraer based on the popular regional jet E190. This aircraft—the first of two planned conversions—will enter service during the third quarter of 2025, marking a turning point in regional air logistics.

Embraer E190F: A Direct Response to E-Commerce Demand

The rise of e-commerce and shifting consumption patterns demand faster deliveries and distributed operations in secondary markets. To address this reality, Embraer launched the E-Freighter E190F, a conversion of its regional jet specifically designed to serve an underserved segment: regional cargo with high operational efficiency.

The E190F offers a strategic solution by replacing older, less efficient models. Its P2F (passenger-to-freighter) configuration not only leverages the proven E190 airframe but also enhances it with key features:

Guy Bridges, CEO of Bridges Air Cargo, highlighted the symbolic value of the agreement: “It is highly significant that Bridges becomes the launch customer for the E-Freighter as we celebrate 35 years of operations and over one billion kilograms transported in the express market. This aircraft fills a unique and underserved niche in the cargo segment. It strengthens our capabilities and opens the door to developing promising new routes.”

Arjan Meijer, President and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, welcomed Bridges Air Cargo’s selection as the first operator: “We are proud to announce this agreement so soon after receiving triple certification for the E190F from the FAA, EASA, and ANAC. We will closely monitor its entry into service and wish Bridges every success.”

With the addition of the E190F, Bridges Air Cargo takes a decisive step toward more agile, efficient logistics tailored to the demands of modern commerce. This move reinforces its regional leadership and positions Embraer as a key player in the global medium freighter market—a segment ripe for transformation and previously underserved.
