Clear Benefits for Passengers

Thanks to the codeshare, travelers can now book their entire itinerary with a single purchase, check in once, and enjoy the convenience of having their baggage checked through to their final destination. This integration simplifies the process and significantly enhances the passenger experience.

Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad, emphasized: “By combining our networks, we are unlocking seamless travel opportunities between Africa and Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Smooth connections via Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa will increase flexibility, boost trade and tourism, and deliver unparalleled travel experiences for guests of both airlines.”

A Robust Bridge Between Continents

The partnership grants Etihad access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive African network, covering 55 destinations across 33 countries. These include Entebbe, Kinshasa, Kigali, Lusaka, Harare, and Victoria Falls, making it easier for passengers to explore the African continent.

At the same time, Ethiopian Airlines passengers can connect to flights operated by Etihad from Abu Dhabi to 20 key destinations in Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Highlights include Sydney, Krabi, Colombo, and Phnom Penh.

Etihad Strengthens Its Presence in Africa

As part of its commitment to the African market, Etihad has ambitious plans for 2025: expanding its route network, adding new destinations, and increasing flight frequencies. This approach not only addresses the region’s sustained demand growth but also positions the airline as a key player in transforming Africa’s air mobility landscape.

This alliance represents far more than a simple route expansion—it is a strategic commitment to facilitating global access, boosting tourism, and fostering new economic opportunities between historically underserved regions.
