JetBlue debuted its flights to Honduras this Thursday, establishing a new daily connection between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and San Pedro Sula. This new route not only marks the airline’s entry into Honduran territory but also represents a key step in its growth strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean, a region that already accounts for over a third of its total capacity.
Daniel Shurz, JetBlue’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, Revenue, and Business Strategy, emphasized the importance of the new destination: “We’re thrilled to add San Pedro Sula to JetBlue’s route map as we expand affordable, high-quality travel to underserved markets.”
The decision to operate this route stems from a combination of strategic factors. JetBlue aims to strengthen its network focused on the Visiting Friends and Relatives (VFR) community, grow its presence in the U.S. Northeast, and enhance connectivity with Central America, where demand continues to rise.
