As of July 1, Oman Air has officially become the fifteenth member of the Oneworld alliance. The inclusion of the Sultanate of Oman’s national airline strengthens the alliance’s footprint in the Middle East and opens key new connections, particularly to the Persian Gulf and South Asia.
According to Nat Pieper, CEO of Oneworld, “Oman Air brings valuable strategic reach and award-winning products and services to the alliance.” The enthusiasm is no coincidence: the Omani carrier has grown to operate 42 destinations across 22 countries and territories, with Muscat International Airport as its hub.
New Routes and Benefits for Frequent Flyers
With its entry into Oneworld, the airline has launched a direct route between Muscat and Amsterdam, further integrating into the global aviation network. Alliance travelers can now earn and redeem miles on Oman Air flights, as well as accrue status points.
Oneworld’s Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby tiers also gain access to perks like priority check-in, boarding, and VIP lounge access. Exclusive benefits for Oman Air’s elite travelers include entry to nearly 700 lounges worldwide, including newly inaugurated spaces at Schiphol (Amsterdam) and Incheon (Seoul) airports.

A Premium Travel Experience
Oman Air’s CEO, Con Korfiatis, celebrated joining the alliance as an opportunity to share Omani culture with the world: “We are thrilled to welcome Oneworld customers to the Sultanate of Oman to experience our unique culture, stunning mountain excursions, beautiful beaches, and above all, the warm hospitality of the Omani people.”
The airline has proven it meets the alliance’s standards. Its services feature three cabin classes, with the Business Studio—featuring private suites on long-haul flights—standing out. At the 2025 APEX Awards, Oman Air was recognized for Best Food & Beverage and Best Cabin Service in the Middle East.
Additionally, in late 2024, it became one of only 10 airlines worldwide to receive the APEX WORLD CLASS by YATES+ award. It was also the first to earn the same distinction for its Business Class Lounge at Muscat International Airport.
Industry Implications
Oman Air’s membership reinforces Oneworld’s position as the premium alliance for international travelers. For passengers, this means more options, better connections, and a seamless, high-quality travel experience in one of the world’s most dynamic regions for air traffic growth.
The move also responds to increasing competition in the Gulf, where airlines like Qatar Airways—also part of Oneworld—Emirates, and Etihad dominate the landscape. With this addition, the alliance gains strategic ground in a key region for intercontinental routes.
