Volaris announced a strategic alliance with Hainan Airlines this Tuesday, significantly expanding air connectivity between Mexico and China—two economies with growing commercial and tourism ties.
Over 50 Mexican Destinations Now Accessible to Asia
Thanks to this agreement, Hainan Airlines passengers will be able to book flights to more than 50 Mexican destinations, using the international airports in Tijuana and Mexico City as connection hubs. The entire journey can be purchased under a single reservation code, streamlining the travel experience from Asia to Mexico’s interior.
Enrique Beltranena, CEO of Volaris, highlighted the significance of the agreement: “We are proud to announce this alliance with Hainan Airlines, a highly prestigious international airline. Its strong presence in China opens a wide range of opportunities for tourism and business between Asia and Mexico.”
The executive also emphasized that this collaboration strengthens Volaris’ commitment to providing accessible connectivity, boosting not only tourism but also economic and social development in the communities it serves.
Codeshare Agreement: Operations Expected in the Second Half of 2025
The plan includes implementing a codeshare agreement, currently undergoing regulatory approval. Once authorized, the flights will be available through Hainan Airlines’ sales channels, allowing its customers to access Volaris’ domestic network without managing multiple reservations.
With this alliance, Volaris reinforces its position as Mexico’s leading airline in passenger numbers. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening the country’s international connectivity, opening new commercial and tourism routes between Asia and Latin America.
