Qatar Airways Completes Starlink Wi-Fi Installation Across Entire Boeing 777 Fleet
Qatar Airways, recently named the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax 2025, has successfully completed the installation of Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet of 54 Boeing 777 aircraft. This milestone makes it the operator with the largest number of wide-body aircraft equipped with this technology, offering speeds of up to 500 Mbps per plane.
This advancement solidifies Qatar Airways’ position as a global leader in long- and ultra-long-haul connectivity with Starlink, and as the only airline in the Middle East and North Africa region to provide this service free of charge across all cabins.
Express Installation: Nine Months, Zero Operational Disruptions
Originally planned as a two-year project, the program was completed in just nine months—nearly 50% faster than anticipated. Efficiency improvements reduced the average installation time per aircraft from three days to just 9.5 hours. This agility ensured no disruptions to the airline’s operations.
According to Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engineer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, “This new milestone reflects our strategic investment in redefining passenger expectations. We promised the fastest and most seamless onboard connectivity in the industry, and with Starlink, we’ve delivered on an unprecedented scale.”

Both Premium and Economy Class passengers enjoy free Wi-Fi from boarding until landing. Whether streaming, gaming online, or working, the connection offers speed and stability comparable to—or even surpassing—many home broadband services.
Beyond the 777: Expansion to Airbus A350 Underway
With over 15,000 flights operated since the first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 launched in October 2024, the airline is now focused on extending the technology to its Airbus A350 fleet, aiming to complete the program within a year.
This step reinforces Qatar Airways’ commitment to innovation and service excellence, further elevating standards in the global aviation industry. With a network spanning over 170 destinations, the airline promises to bring this experience to millions of passengers worldwide.
