American Airlines has become the first U.S. airline to implement the One Stop Security (OSS) program, a system that redefines international passenger transit. Through close collaboration with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the UK Department for Transport (DfT), travelers arriving from London Heathrow Airport and connecting at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport can now enjoy a streamlined and uninterrupted transfer process.
Farewell to Traditional Hassles: A Frictionless Experience
Until now, international travelers arriving in the United States had to:
- Clear customs,
- Retrieve their checked baggage,
- Recheck it for their next flight,
- And go through TSA security again.
With OSS, all these steps are eliminated. Passengers disembark, clear customs at the arrival gate, and proceed directly to their connecting flight without collecting or rechecking their luggage. Baggage transfer is handled automatically, ensuring efficiency without compromising security.

Shorter Layovers, More Time for Travelers
This pioneering system in the U.S. cuts connection times by more than half. The result is a significantly improved passenger experience and optimized operational processes, thanks to advanced technology developed in partnership with BagCheck and Brock Solutions.
David Seymour, Chief Operating Officer of American, summarizes it best: “One Stop Security is one of the most visionary advancements we can offer for international travel. Thanks to the work with our federal partners and DFW Airport, our customers will spend less time worrying about complicated connections and more time enjoying their journey.”
Uncompromising Security
Security remains a top priority. Both CBP and TSA have been instrumental in ensuring this system maintains the highest standards while substantially enhancing the traveler experience. The development of OSS exemplifies these agencies’ commitment to innovation and service.
DFW: An Airport at the Forefront
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has played a crucial role by investing in the infrastructure and systems needed to support OSS. This implementation not only boosts efficiency but also reinforces its position as a global leader in airport innovation.
From London to the World: A Vision for Expansion
The U.S. debut of OSS follows a successful pilot at London Heathrow, where the system was tested on flights connecting to destinations outside the UK. Now, American Airlines is the first to introduce this innovation at a U.S. airport.
And this is just the beginning. The airline plans to expand the program to more U.S. flights and airports in the future, reinforcing its commitment to a smoother, more customer-centric travel experience.
