The Dominican airline Arajet reached its highest performance in history during July, setting record numbers for both passengers carried and sales, solidifying its position as a key player in Caribbean commercial aviation.
Passenger Record: Over 140,000 in a Single Month
According to data published by the Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic, Arajet transported 128,178 passengers in July, excluding transit travelers. Including the latter, which numbered around 15,000, the company surpassed the 140,000-passenger threshold for the first time in a single month.
This achievement positioned Arajet as the third-largest airline in the country by passenger volume, trailing only JetBlue (463,000) and American Airlines (216,000). For the first time, the Dominican airline outperformed Delta (126,000), United (123,000), and Copa Airlines (112,000), consolidating its rise in the competitive regional market.
Leadership Among Dominican Airlines
Arajet accounted for an impressive 80% of passenger air travel among Dominican airlines.
Sky High ranked second with 15%.
Air Century, Red Air, and Panorama Jets shared the remaining 5%.
This dominance reflects Arajet’s consolidation as the country’s leading airline and one of the most important drivers of connectivity for tourism.
Unprecedented Commercial Momentum
July also became the airline’s best month for sales, driven by:
- Summer promotions designed to attract tourists to the Dominican Republic.
- Campaigns in the United States, targeting the Dominican diaspora—a strategic market for the company.
These initiatives not only strengthened the airline’s revenue but also reinforced its role as an ambassador for Dominican connectivity in North America.
Route Expansion and Growing Fleet
Arajet already connects 28 destinations in 16 countries and continues to expand its network. Among the new routes to be added in the coming months are Chicago, Orlando, and Boston in the United States, as well as Córdoba in Argentina.
This expansion plan supports the vision of turning the Dominican Republic into the continent’s new air hub, increasing connection options for passengers across the region.
Víctor Pacheco, founder and CEO of Arajet, stated that the company is experiencing its most promising phase: “We are at our best moment, and this fills us with enthusiasm to continue building the continent’s new hub in the Dominican Republic,” he expressed in a statement.
He also highlighted that the growth is reflected not only in passengers and sales but also in the incorporation of new aircraft and job creation. Pacheco affirmed that the second half of 2025 will close with very positive figures, contributing to the country’s goals for passenger and tourist numbers.
