ITA Airways and Lufthansa Group Strengthen Partnership with New Codeshare Flights to Asia and Africa

ITA Airways has expanded its codeshare agreement with the Lufthansa Group to offer more long-haul routes to Asia and Africa, available with a single booking and smoother connections from Europe. Tickets for these new destinations are now on sale, with travel dates starting from September 2.

This latest step reinforces the joint strategy of both companies to strengthen their international networks and provide easier access to key markets for business travelers and tourists.

New Routes in Africa: Connections via Brussels

The first group of intercontinental codeshare flights opened connections to African cities such as Abidjan, Douala, Freetown, Monrovia, Nairobi, and Ouagadougou.

These destinations can be booked under the ITA Airways code and are operated in partnership with Brussels Airlines via Brussels Airport. This allows passengers to reach West and Central Africa more comfortably and efficiently.

Asia and South America from Rome

In addition to Africa, passengers of Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines can now fly via Rome Fiumicino Airport to destinations like Bangkok, Jeddah, Cairo, Riyadh, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo.

Second Phase of the Agreement: Deeper Network Integration

In this new phase, the Lufthansa code will be added to flights operated by ITA Airways, while the Italian carrier’s code will be integrated into routes operated by Lufthansa Group airlines. Specifically, ITA Airways will add its code to the following Lufthansa flights:
