Spirit Airlines to Connect Fort Lauderdale with Two New Destinations: Belize and Grand Cayman

Spirit Airlines is strengthening its international presence with the launch of two new routes from its base at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, introducing direct flights to Belize and Grand Cayman starting in November and December 2025, respectively.

Belize: Nature, History, and Reefs

Beginning November 21, Spirit will become the only airline offering direct flights between Fort Lauderdale and Belize (Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport). The route will operate three times a week on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays.

According to John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning at Spirit Airlines, “With its world-class aquatic excursions and stunning landscapes, Belize is an incredible addition to our international service.” Kirby also emphasized that this new destination will allow travelers from Belize to enjoy an enhanced experience when flying to the United States, while expanding options for those departing from Fort Lauderdale.

Grand Cayman: The Perfect Tropical Escape

On December 4, 2025, Spirit will launch the only nonstop connection between Fort Lauderdale and Owen Roberts International Airport in Grand Cayman. The route will operate three times a week on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, offering an ideal option for those seeking sun and beach during the winter season.

Spirit Airlines continues to solidify its leadership in Fort Lauderdale, where it is currently the largest operator. With the addition of Belize and Grand Cayman, the airline is making a strong bet on further expanding its network from this South Florida city, offering greater connectivity to high-interest tourist destinations.
