American Airlines and Porter Airlines announced the start of a new codeshare partnership that will significantly expand travel options between the United States and Canada. Starting now, passengers can book codeshare itineraries on both airlines’ websites.
“Canada is one of the most popular destinations for travelers, and at American, we are excited to partner with Porter Airlines to offer more choices for our customers,” said Anmol Bhargava, American’s Senior Vice President of Global Alliances. The executive highlighted that the passenger is the priority and that the joint goal is to ensure a seamless cross-border experience with more alternatives.
For his part, Edmond Eldebs, Porter’s Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized that the union with American provides “a truly competitive alternative” for those who require more options on routes between Canada and the United States. He added that the agreement combines Porter’s expanding network in Canada with American’s extensive coverage in the southern part of the continent and its promise of high-quality service.
Available Routes and Future Expansion
In this initial phase, American will place its code on selected Porter flights from Toronto Pearson. AAdvantage members who purchase a flight under this arrangement will earn both miles and Loyalty Points.
Currently, American operates more flights to Toronto Pearson than any other U.S. airline, with over 25 daily operations during peak hours, facilitating smooth connections to multiple points in the neighboring country.
