Avianca Enhances Its Insignia Experience: Home Burgers & Shakes and World-Class Chefs on Flights to Europe

Starting in September, passengers traveling in Insignia by Avianca—the airline’s business class on routes between Bogotá and cities such as London, Paris, Madrid, and Barcelona—can enjoy burgers from Home Burgers & Shakes onboard. These are available throughout the flight and up to 90 minutes before landing.

Katherine Stradaioli, Vice President of Customer Delivery at Avianca, emphasized that this addition aims to surprise passengers with unique flavors at 36,000 feet. “We are proud to introduce a premium burger onboard in collaboration with Home, made with the finest ingredients, bringing great local talent to more countries around the world,” she stated.

For Pablo Vélez, co-founder of the brand, this partnership means bringing the freshness and approachability of their products into the aviation environment. “Home’s participation in the Insignia by Avianca menu represents a commitment to bringing that sense of freshness and enjoyment to the in-flight experience, allowing business-class passengers to experience a different moment, closer to everyday life,” he noted.

Colombian Chefs Lead the Menu

Insignia’s culinary offerings are not limited to burgers. Since September, Manuel Mendoza—a Barranquilla-based chef behind restaurants Manuel Cocina and Cocina 33, recognized by Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants—has joined the project led by Álvaro Clavijo, chef of the Bogotá-based restaurant El Chato, which appears on the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

“The Insignia by Avianca menu continues to evolve, and it is a great honor to welcome Manuel Mendoza to elevate the flavors of Colombia as part of this premium experience,” commented Clavijo. Mendoza, in turn, highlighted the initiative as “an opportunity to use the sky as a showcase for culinary exploration where tradition and creativity come together.”

An Experience Beyond the Menu

The Insignia by Avianca product is not solely focused on gastronomy. Passengers enjoy Flatbed seats with 180° full recline, exclusive amenity kits from Mola Sasa designed in collaboration with women from the Gunadule community and featuring products from Loto del Sur, as well as welcome drinks, unlimited snacks, a selection of fine wines, and a comprehensive entertainment system on integrated screens.

The offering is complemented by preferential ground service: lounge access, additional baggage allowance, and priority boarding, rounding out an experience designed to combine comfort, local identity, and high-level gastronomy on every transatlantic journey.
