Delta Air Lines confirmed it will launch its first daily, nonstop service between New York-JFK and Porto on May 21, 2026, directly connecting travelers with one of Europe’s most vibrant coastal cities. The airline frames this launch as part of its transatlantic expansion strategy, focused on more destinations, increased frequencies, and enhanced onboard experiences.
Seven New European Routes for Summer 2026
Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, Paul Baldoni, highlighted that the Porto route is one of seven new routes debuting next summer. In addition to Portugal, passengers will be able to fly to Sardinia and Malta, among other new destinations, solidifying JFK Airport’s position as a leading global hub.
Simultaneously, the company will expand its network with flights from Boston to Madrid and Nice, increased service to Barcelona and Milan, as well as new operations from Seattle to Barcelona and Rome. Ireland will also see a boost with three additional frequencies between Detroit and Dublin.

A Premium Experience from Takeoff
Travelers departing from New York will take off from Delta’s hub at JFK, where the airline offers over 200 daily departures to more than 100 destinations. Those traveling in Delta One can enjoy the exclusive Delta One Lounge before their flight—a space designed to provide tranquility, top-tier dining, premium beverages, and highly personalized service.
The Porto route will be operated on a Boeing 767-300, configured with four experiences:
- Delta One, featuring fully reclining seats, chef-curated menus, and Missoni amenity kits, accompanied by Taittinger champagne.
- Delta Premium Select, offering wider seats, greater recline, and enhanced services for a more comfortable journey.
- Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin, both featuring varied entertainment and curated food and beverage options.
All cabins will offer Delta Studio, with hours of movies and series, plus fast and free Wi-Fi with Delta Sync, courtesy of T-Mobile for SkyMiles members.
With this move, Delta reinforces its most ambitious transatlantic schedule to date. The addition of Porto to its network not only expands connectivity to Portugal but also symbolizes a milestone within the wave of growth bringing Europe closer to U.S. passengers.
