Qantas has announced it will expand its seasonal Perth-Rome service in 2026, adding an extra eight weeks of operation—from May 3rd to October 23rd—and increasing peak-season frequency from three to four flights per week. With this decision, the Australian national carrier will offer over 40 additional flights and nearly 10,000 extra seats.
Perth-Rome Service Schedule for 2026
- May 3 – June 26: 3 flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday)
- June 27 – September 26: 4 flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday)
- September 27 – October 23: 3 flights per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday)
The extended schedule will span the Northern Hemisphere’s spring to autumn transition, providing more flexible options for travelers to Italy and the rest of Europe.

A Milestone in Australia-Europe Connectivity
Since its launch in 2022, the non-stop Perth-Rome service has carried over 70,000 passengers. It became the first direct flight between Australia and continental Europe operated by any airline, establishing itself as the fastest route connecting the two continents.
Currently, Qantas connects Perth with London, Paris, Rome, and Singapore. Furthermore, from December 2025, it will add direct flights to Johannesburg and Auckland.
Qantas’s Vision
Cam Wallace, CEO of Qantas International, highlighted the popularity of this link: “Rome is one of Europe’s most iconic destinations, and our customers value being able to depart Perth in the evening and wake up in the Italian capital.”
Wallace noted that over half of the passengers come from Australia’s east coast and that the schedules are designed to facilitate connections in Perth with domestic flights.
The executive emphasized that the capacity expansion will allow more Australians to take advantage of non-stop European routes, which record some of the highest satisfaction levels within the airline’s international network. He also underscored that in 2026, nearly 300,000 seats will be available between Perth and the European capitals of London, Paris, and Rome.
