Azul Launches Direct Flights Between São Paulo-Congonhas and Foz do Iguaçu

Brazilian airline Azul inaugurated this Sunday its new regular direct route between São Paulo (Congonhas) and Foz do Iguaçu (Paraná).

With two daily operations, the company enhances connectivity between the São Paulo capital and one of the most iconic tourist destinations in the country and the world.

The flights are operated using Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, with a capacity for 136 passengers. This new operation is part of Azul’s strategy to strengthen its presence at Congonhas Airport, which is establishing itself as a key departure point not only for corporate travel but also for leisure.

Strategic Expansion from Congonhas

“Foz do Iguaçu is one of the most emblematic destinations for national and international tourism, and connecting the city directly with Azul’s operations at Congonhas is a strategic step. This new route reinforces Azul’s commitment to the development of Brazilian tourism and to the State of Paraná, with whom we maintain a solid alliance. Furthermore, it consolidates Congonhas as an increasingly versatile airport, with a network that serves both corporate and leisure passengers,” stated Cesar Grandolfo, Azul’s Institutional Relations Manager.

High Season Plan and Capacity Increase

The new route is also integrated into the operational plan for the upcoming Austral summer high season of 2025/2026, during which Azul will offer more than 3,600 additional flights and 520,000 extra seats across the country.

Congonhas Airport will be one of the main hubs for this special operation, with 45% of the originally corporate-focused flights being adapted for leisure travelers.
