Boeing and flydubai announced the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the acquisition of 75 737 MAX aircraft, with options for 75 additional ones. This agreement represents the Dubai-based airline’s fourth purchase of this model, consolidating its fleet modernization and network expansion strategy.
flydubai currently operates a fleet of 96 Boeing 737 aircraft. Once finalized, the new order will add to the pending deliveries from previous acquisitions, reinforcing its operational capacity and growth projections.
Expanding Global Network: Over 135 Destinations
Thanks to the 737 MAX’s fuel efficiency, range, and reliability, flydubai has successfully expanded its network to over 135 destinations. New routes include cities such as Lasi, Nairobi, Riga, and other additions that strengthen its international presence.
Flexibility and Performance: Key Features of the 737 MAX
The agreement will allow flydubai to leverage the versatility and commonality of the 737 MAX family, including the 737-8, 737-9, and 737-10 models. This variety of sizes and ranges suits the airline’s operational needs for both existing routes and new market opportunities.

Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, highlighted: “flydubai was one of the earliest operators of the 737 MAX in the world, and their decision to place a fourth order reflects the market-leading value and versatility of this airplane family. We are proud that our airplanes continue to be the backbone of their strategic fleet and growth plans.”
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of flydubai, emphasized the importance of proactive planning: “Anticipating future needs is a critical factor in the success of any airline, and today’s announcement reflects our commitment to that principle. We are pleased to announce this new acquisition agreement with Boeing.”
He added: “Reliable aircraft availability and timely deliveries are vital for the continued growth of our industry. This agreement ensures we are well-positioned for the future, both for expanding the fleet and replacing current aircraft. I thank the team for their dedication and hard work, which, combined with Dubai’s ambitious vision for the coming years, fuels our excitement for what lies ahead, including our participation in the Dubai World Central expansion plans.”
Fleet Complement: Introduction of Wide-body Aircraft
In 2023, flydubai also placed its first order for wide-body aircraft, purchasing 30 787 Dreamliners. This decision marks a new chapter in the evolution of its fleet, extending its capabilities beyond the narrow-body segment.
This new agreement reaffirms the strategic partnership between flydubai and Boeing and positions the airline as a key player in the development of air transport in the region.
