Iberia has announced the launch of a new direct route between Madrid and Toronto, as part of its ambitious Flight Plan 2030. Starting June 13, 2026, the Spanish airline will offer five weekly frequencies between the two cities, solidifying its leadership in connectivity between Europe and North America.
With this addition, Toronto becomes the 145th destination in Iberia’s network, a milestone that reinforces its transatlantic expansion strategy. The company will offer a total of 37,000 seats during the summer season on this route.
Schedule and Frequencies of the New Service
The flights will operate on the following schedule:
| Flight Number | Route | Operating Days | Departure | Arrival |
| IB0367 | Madrid-Toronto | Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun | 12:00 | 15:00 |
| IB0368 | Toronto-Madrid | Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun | 17:10 | 06:55 (+1) |
Airbus A321XLR: Efficiency and Comfort on Transatlantic Flights
The new connection will be operated with the Airbus A321XLR, the newest model in Iberia’s long-haul fleet. This single-aisle aircraft allows it to cover transatlantic routes with remarkable efficiency, achieving fuel savings of up to 40% compared to wide-body aircraft.
The A321XLR is equipped with the Airspace cabin, which features larger overhead compartments, LED lighting, and a greater sense of spaciousness. The configuration includes two classes — Business and Tourist — with a total of 182 seats, maintaining the airline’s characteristic comfort standards.
Iberia was the launch customer for this model and, since November 14 of last year, became the first airline in the world to operate it on long-haul flights, starting with the route to Boston.
Flight Plan 2030: Investment and Sustained Growth
The opening of this route is part of Flight Plan 2030, Iberia’s strategic roadmap for the coming years. This plan includes a 6 billion euro investment aimed at:
- Expanding the long-haul fleet from 48 to 70 aircraft.
- Digitizing services offered.
- Improving the customer experience.
- Adding new destinations to its global network.
According to María Jesús López Solás, Iberia’s Commercial Director, Network Development and Alliances, “Toronto is the 145th destination in our network, which is a milestone in Iberia’s history. Operating it with the Airbus A321XLR is not just an operational decision, but a statement of principles: innovation, efficiency, and sustainability are the pillars on which we are building our future.”
With this new route, Iberia expands its long-haul network and reinforces its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and global connectivity.
