WestJet Announces New International Routes from Toronto and Halifax for Summer 2026

WestJet has unveiled the first phase of its schedule for summer 2026, highlighting an ambitious international expansion from Toronto Pearson. Leveraging the extended range of its Boeing 737-8 fleet, the airline will connect Canada’s most diverse city with four new international destinations, including its first direct link to South America: Medellin, Colombia.

WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech emphasized that “Toronto Pearson International Airport serves as a natural connector for international travel, and we look forward to the two-way travel opportunities arising from one of WestJet’s largest investments in the region.”

Halifax Solidified as Atlantic Gateway to Europe

The airline is also bolstering Halifax Stanfield International Airport as its East Coast hub, adding four seasonal routes with direct connections to Europe and the United States. This expansion represents the highest number of European destinations operated by WestJet from Halifax.

Von Hoensbroech underscored that “with shorter flight times, competitive prices, and direct access to key cultural centers, WestJet is proud to call Halifax its Atlantic gateway to Europe.”
