Airbus has closed the transaction with Spirit AeroSystems to integrate industrial assets linked to its commercial aviation programs. The company described this development as a special moment for its organization.
Florent Massou, Executive Vice President of Operations for the Commercial Aircraft division, highlighted that this agreement allows the incorporation of over 4,000 new professionals and opens a new stage focused on essential activities for its aircraft.
Assets Now Under Airbus Control
The operation includes facilities and production lines in several countries. Each adopts a new identity within the group:
United States and Europe
- Kinston, North Carolina: Manufactures fuselage sections for the A350 and will now be called Airbus Aerosystems Kinston.
- Saint-Nazaire, France: Also produces parts for the A350 fuselage and is integrated as Airbus Atlantic Cadréan.

North Africa and United Kingdom
- Casablanca, Morocco: Develops components for the A321 and A220. It now operates as Airbus Atlantic Maroc Aero.
- Belfast, Northern Ireland: Responsible for wings and the center fuselage for the A220, it becomes Airbus Belfast.
- Prestwick, Scotland: Manufactures wing elements for the A320 and A350. This unit becomes a subsidiary called Prestwick Aerosystems.
Production Relocation
The manufacturing of A220 pylons will be transferred from Wichita, Kansas, to the Saint-Eloi site in Toulouse, consolidating this specific work there.
Financial Terms of the Agreement
Airbus receives compensation of $439 million, subject to the usual purchase price adjustments and a post-closing review. Additional payments are also included to cover responsibilities contemplated in the signed agreements.
A Strategic Move for the Coming Years
With this integration, Airbus aims to strengthen control over critical areas of its aircraft, improve industrial coordination, and ensure greater stability in its supply chain. The reinforcement of capabilities in key locations will allow the company to advance more solidly in its current programs.
