Arajet has incorporated its thirteenth aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, christened the “Isabel de Torres.” This name pays homage to one of the most emblematic natural reserves in the Dominican Republic. The aircraft landed for the first time at Gregorio Luperón International Airport (POP) in Puerto Plata, where it was welcomed by local authorities and representatives from the tourism sector.
Authorities Highlight Impact on Country’s Connectivity
Present during the welcoming ceremony was Igor Rodriguez, Director General of the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC). In his remarks, he emphasized that the arrival of this aircraft reflects the country’s commitment to a modern, efficient, and safe aviation sector. He affirmed that Arajet continues to raise industry standards and solidify one of the most robust aeronautical systems in the region.
In turn, Manuel Luna, Chief Communications and External Affairs Officer of Arajet, noted that the aircraft bears the name of a natural symbol of Puerto Plata, known for its biodiversity and importance to the northern zone. He added that this plane strengthens the vision of turning the Dominican Republic into the low-cost hub of the Americas, expanding opportunities and destinations for travelers.

Furthermore, it is one of the most visited attractions in the area due to its cable car and scenic landscapes.
