Delta Air Lines has achieved a key industry milestone: the installation of its fast and free Delta Sync Wi-Fi, presented by T-Mobile, on its 1,000th aircraft, representing nearly 75% of its total fleet. With this advancement, the airline solidifies a hard-to-match leadership in door-to-door connectivity, with more aircraft equipped with free Wi-Fi than any other U.S. carrier.
As of today, SkyMiles members can access the service on over 1,000 aircraft, a decisive step in Delta’s strategy to offer a more personalized and connected experience to every passenger, on every flight. To date, there have been over 100 million sessions on Delta Sync Wi-Fi.
A Service That Goes Beyond “Getting Online”
The development of Delta Sync is part of a multi-year project to achieve continuous connectivity from boarding to landing.
This ecosystem drives two main pillars:
- Delta Sync Wi-Fi, which provides access to exclusive offers, special content, and travel inspiration material.
- Delta Sync seatback, which transforms the seatback screen into an experience similar to a smart TV at home.
New partners like YouTube and Crunchyroll have recently joined the offering, complementing platforms already available such as Paramount+. These integrations allow passengers to enjoy in-flight entertainment and access promotions that can be used even after the flight.

“We are turning our aircraft into platforms where customers can stay entertained, connected, and informed from start to finish,” said Ranjan Goswami, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design. He explained that Delta Sync is the engine that enables these personalized experiences.
New Features for All Ages
Kids Map, an Interactive Onboard Adventure
Delta has begun rolling out Kids Map, an experience designed for young explorers that is now available on select screens.
This interactive map allows users to explore continents, monuments, and elements of nature through illustrations, games, and short quizzes. It includes progress badges and original characters, all designed to keep children entertained during the flight.
Destination Stories: A Destination Guide Before Landing
Starting early next year, the Destination Stories feature will arrive on select flights. This service turns the seatback screen into a travel guide, allowing passengers to book local activities, discover exclusive offers, and explore key destination information from 30,000 feet.
Personalization on More Aircraft
Delta Sync seatback continues to expand. The company will begin a limited implementation on the Boeing 737-900 fleet early next year, a relevant step in bringing these personalized functions to legacy hardware.
Currently, the Delta Sync seatback experience is available on over 300 aircraft, across six fleet types, representing 45% of IFE (In-Flight Entertainment) views.
Furthermore, the system continues its deployment on Boeing 737-800s and will arrive in 2025 on 767-300s and A350-900s, marking the arrival of Delta Sync to wide-body fleets for the first time.
Interactive Menus for Clearer Service
Domestic Delta One and Delta First passengers can view food and beverage options directly on their seatback screen. The system displays menus by route and time of day, along with detailed descriptions designed to assist those with specific dietary needs. Delta plans to expand this function to more routes and cabin products in 2026.
A New Standard in In-Flight Connectivity
This milestone is not just a round number. It represents a shift in the aviation connectivity standard.
“Achieving this vision required rethinking what was possible in flight,” stated Glenn Latta, General Manager of In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity. He noted that the team’s work has created a platform that meets today’s expectations and prepares for tomorrow’s.
With more aircraft equipped with fast, free Wi-Fi, new interactive features, and a constant commitment to personalization, Delta strengthens its role as one of the airlines leading the way in the digital onboard experience.
