Iberia Group has designed a special operational plan for the Christmas holidays with the aim of facilitating customer travel during one of the year’s busiest travel periods. Between December 19, 2025, and January 7, 2026, Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Nostrum will operate a total of 11,578 flights, a figure that reflects the increased capacity planned for these key dates.

Nearly 1.9 million seats available

To meet the increase in demand, the group has put 1,887,789 seats on sale across its three airlines. This schedule aims to offer greater flexibility to travelers on both domestic and international routes during the Christmas period.

Increased frequencies in Europe due to rising demand

The company has specifically strengthened its operations in several European cities with high seasonal demand. Prague will have five additional frequencies, while Budapest will add four. Vienna will have two more, and Stockholm, Oslo, Geneva, and Zurich will each add one extra frequency.

Most popular destinations for Iberia customers

During this time, passenger preferences are concentrated in certain markets. Domestically, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Tenerife stand out. Within Europe, Paris and London rank among the most requested. In Latin America, the destinations with the highest demand are Mexico City, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires.

Snow: a highlight of the European winter

Snow destinations once again feature prominently in the Christmas schedule. Direct flights to Innsbruck resume on Sunday, December 21, for the second consecutive year, with two weekly frequencies. This Austrian city is known for both its ski slopes and its traditional Christmas markets.

Also in Northern Europe, Tromsø, Norway, will have two weekly frequencies, operating on Thursdays and Sundays. Considered the Arctic capital, the city offers the chance to witness the Northern Lights and enjoy activities such as dog sledding or whale watching.

Another highlight of the season is Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland and home to Santa Claus. To facilitate access to this destination, Iberia has scheduled four weekly frequencies from Madrid on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

New routes

With travelers preferring warmer climates in mind, Iberia has added two recently launched routes. The first is Recife, in northeastern Brazil, with three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The second connects to Orlando, in central Florida—a destination famous for its theme parks—with four weekly frequencies on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

European capitals, a sure bet

Major European cities continue to be a highly sought-after option during this period, thanks to their blend of tradition, leisure, and shopping. Iberia will offer up to 11 daily frequencies to Paris, up to 10 to London, up to 7 to Rome, up to 6 to Lisbon, and up to 4 to Vienna, thereby strengthening its presence in some of the continent’s main destinations.

With this special schedule, the Iberia Group aims to meet the increase in Christmas travel demand by offering more flight options and greater capacity on key routes for the period between late December and early January.
