Porter Airlines inaugurated its flights between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Liberia, Costa Rica. This marks its first connection with Central America, a key step in its seasonal expansion to warm-weather destinations. The company has scheduled up to six weekly frequencies and adds this link to a series of recently launched routes to Cancún, Puerto Vallarta, and Nassau.
Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Analysis, stated that the start of operations allows travelers to reach Guanacaste and enjoy its landscapes. He noted that the country has become a second home for many Canadian citizens, who can now begin that journey with Porter’s characteristic hospitality.
Entry into a Nature-Filled Region
Liberia serves as the gateway to the Guanacaste area. This region is known for its beaches, coastal towns, and rainforests. Visitors can explore national parks that protect unique ecosystems and habitats for many species. The announcement places Costa Rica on the airline’s destination map, aiming to attract travelers interested in experiences surrounded by biodiversity.

VIPorter Program and Redemption for Sun Destinations
Members of the VIPorter program have the ability to redeem points to fly with both Porter and Air Transat to vacation markets.
