Avianca Reactivates Santiago-Cartagena Route: A Seasonal Bet Boosting Connectivity Between Southern Cone and the Caribbean

Avianca has reactivated its direct route between Santiago, Chile, and Cartagena, a seasonal operation available from January through February. This move aligns with the high travel demand at the start of the year and is part of the airline’s strategy to strengthen its international network in Latin America.

This decision not only responds to a specific commercial interest but also re-establishes a direct connection on the map between the Southern Cone and one of the most important tourist destinations in the Colombian Caribbean, reducing travel times and eliminating intermediate stops.

A Seasonal Route Focused on Connectivity and Efficiency

According to the airline, the reactivation of the Santiago-Cartagena route is part of its strategy to offer efficient and reliable operations, expanding direct connectivity options between key regional markets during the months of highest tourist flow.

Avianca emphasizes that this route aims to meet the demand of passengers who prioritize point-to-point flights, especially during high-mobility holiday seasons, where time optimization and the onboard experience are decisive factors.

In the words of David Aleman, Sales Director for South America and Colombia: “The reactivation of the Santiago de Chile-Cartagena route allows us to continue strengthening international connectivity between the Southern Cone and Cartagena, expanding travel alternatives for our customers at the start of the year. As of January 15, this route will incorporate the Americas Business Class experience, as part of our commitment to offer a consistent, high-level product across the continent.”

Americas Business Class: Added Value of the Product

A central point of this reactivation is the introduction, starting January 15, of the Americas Business Class, a product that Avianca has been standardizing on medium- and long-haul routes within the continent.

Service Features

This approach reinforces the airline’s intention to position a consistent product for corporate and high-value passengers, even on routes with a strong tourist component.
