Avianca Receives Its First Airbus A320neo with Airspace Cabin
Avianca has announced the arrival of its first Airbus A320neo equipped with the innovative Airspace cabin, as part of an order for 138 aircraft of this model placed by the Abra Group, the holding company to which the airline belongs. This marks a significant step forward in the modernization of its narrow-body fleet, which now reaches 135 aircraft dedicated to short and medium-haul routes.
Airspace Cabin: Comfort and Functionality
The new A320neo incorporates the Airbus Airspace cabin, designed to enhance the passenger experience. Notable features include:
- XL overhead bins that offer up to 60% more space for carry-on luggage compared to previous models.
- Dynamic LED lighting that adjusts to each phase of the flight.
- Three rows of Premium seats in a two-by-two configuration, developed exclusively by Recaro for Avianca, representing a unique product in the region.

In addition to narrow-body aircraft, Avianca operates more than 15 wide-body aircraft for long-haul flights and 9 cargo planes. This combination allows the airline to offer one of the most comprehensive networks in the region, connecting more than 25 countries and 80 destinations across the Americas and Europe.
Abra Group’s Fleet Plan
This first A320neo is part of the Abra Group’s ambitious fleet renewal plan, which includes:
- 138 Airbus A320neo
- 96 Boeing 737 MAX
- 5 Airbus A350
- Up to 7 Airbus A330neo
With this strategy, the Group aims to strengthen its airlines’ route network, consolidating its presence in key markets and improving the travel experience for its customers.
