Aeroméxico has once again reached the top of the global on-time performance ranking. The Mexican airline achieved a 90.02% on-time arrival rate and was crowned, for the second consecutive year, as the world’s most punctual airline, according to the On-Time Performance Review 2025 published by Cirium.
This result not only consolidates the operational performance of the Mexican company but also places it within a very select group in the industry: it is only the second company to achieve consecutive global titles since Cirium launched this program in 2009.
Sustained International Leadership
During the evaluated period, Aeroméxico operated 188,859 flights across 23 countries, maintaining a level of schedule reliability that positioned it above high-profile competitors. The margin over the third-place airline was 3.93 percentage points, a difference that, according to Cirium, reflects the overall increase in operational standards in the sector.
In the global ranking, Saudia took second place with 86.53%, while SAS ranked third with an 86.09% on-time arrival rate.
World’s Ten Most Punctual Airlines
The list compiled by Cirium shows increasingly tight competition among major international operators:
- Aeroméxico: 90.02% | 188,859 flights
- Saudia: 86.53% | 202,864 flights
- SAS: 86.09% | 249,674 flights
- Azul: 85.18% | 304,625 flights
- Qatar Airways: 84.42% | 198,303 flights
- Iberia: 83.52% | 188,447 flights
- LATAM Airlines: 82.40% | 580,707 flights
- Avianca: 81.73% | 266,921 flights
- Turkish Airlines: 81.41% | 421,087 flights
- Delta Air Lines: 80.90% | 1,800,086 flights
The data shows that maintaining high punctuality rates becomes increasingly complex as the volume of operations grows.

Regional Champions in Airline Punctuality
In addition to the global ranking, Cirium recognized the top-performing airlines in each region:
North America
Delta Air Lines took first place for the fifth consecutive year, with 80.90% of flights arriving on time.
Europe
Iberia Express, part of International Airlines Group, defended its title for the third consecutive year, achieving an 88.94% on-time performance.
Asia-Pacific
Philippine Airlines earned the regional recognition for the first time, with a rate of 83.12%.
Latin America
Copa Airlines added its eleventh victory, the highest number achieved by any airline since 2009, with a notable 90.75%.
Middle East and Africa
Safair led the region with a 91.06% on-time arrival rate.
Qatar Airways Receives the Platinum Award
Qatar Airways was honored with Cirium’s Platinum Award, a prize that recognizes comprehensive operational excellence. The Doha-based airline recorded an 84.42% punctuality rate across more than 198,303 flights, covering six continents from its global connecting network.
Virgin Atlantic, the Airline with the Greatest Operational Improvement
One of the novelties in the report was the “Most Improved” award, granted for the first time. Virgin Atlantic received this recognition after achieving the largest year-over-year improvement among global airlines.
The British company increased its punctuality from 74.02% in 2024 to 83.45% in 2025, representing a jump of 9.44 percentage points. The award criteria require a minimum baseline of 70%, ensuring the merit reflects real operational improvements and not just a recovery from poor performance.
Top-Performing Airports in 2025
The report also highlighted worldwide airport punctuality:
- Santiago’s Arturo Merino Benítez International Airport won the large airports category, with 87.04% of on-time departures.
- Tocumen International Airport in Panama led the medium category with an outstanding 93.34%.
- Guayaquil’s José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Ecuador secured first place among small airports for the second consecutive year, reaching 91.47%.
Meanwhile, Istanbul Airport received the Airport Platinum Award, a distinction that evaluates operational complexity, passenger impact during disruptions, and growth trajectory. The previous year’s winner in this category was El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá.
Punctuality, a Key Factor for the Industry
The results of the On-Time Performance Review 2025 confirm that punctuality remains a critical indicator for the passenger experience and the efficiency of the global air system. In this landscape, Aeroméxico solidifies its position as an international benchmark, while airlines and airports from different regions raise the competitive bar for commercial aviation.
