Boeing and Air Astana have formalized an order for up to 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, consolidating the largest aircraft purchase ever made by Kazakhstan’s flag carrier. This agreement marks a turning point in the airline’s strategy for growth and fleet modernization.

The deal, announced this Tuesday, confirms the commitment previously revealed in November 2025. It establishes a clear roadmap to strengthen the long-haul capabilities of the Central Asian operator.

A Strategic Order to Modernize the Wide-Body Fleet

The order includes additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft, a model destined to become the core pillar of the company’s wide-body fleet. According to the official communication, this acquisition will allow Air Astana to:

  • Expand international operations.
  • Enhance the passenger experience, a key strategic driver for the airline’s sustained growth.

Up to 18 Boeing 787-9s in Service

In addition to the aircraft included in the direct contract with Boeing, Air Astana will receive three additional 787-9s through lessors. With these additions, the Dreamliner fleet could reach a total of up to 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

With these planes, Air Astana will possess the expanded capacity needed to boost its long-haul operations. This is a fundamental element in its positioning as the leading airline in Central Asia.
