Arajet and Meliá Hotels Forge Strategic Alliance to Boost Connectivity Between Dominican Republic and New York

The Dominican airline Arajet and the hotel chain Meliá Hotels International have announced a collaboration agreement aimed at driving air connectivity and tourism between the Dominican Republic and New York. This partnership targets one of the most critical markets for Caribbean ethnic, corporate, and tourism traffic.

The initiative merges commercial aviation, hospitality, and experiential marketing to stimulate demand on the route connecting Santo Domingo with New York. It leverages the presence of the INNSiDE by Meliá NOMAD hotel, located in Manhattan.

A Strategy Focused on Stimulating Demand

Moving beyond a traditional promotional agreement, both companies have proposed an active traffic generation strategy based on brand experiences and actions directed at influential audiences.

The plan includes activities designed to increase passenger movement on the route between the Dominican capital and New York, which remains one of the most competitive and relevant corridors for the Caribbean.

Activation During New York Fashion Week

One of the most significant milestones will be a special activation in February during New York Fashion Week, one of the city’s most important cultural and media events.

During this activation:

The goal is to associate the air route and the hotel experience with high-profile events, reinforcing the positioning of both brands within an urban, cultural, and cosmopolitan environment.

Continuity of the Model: 2025 Activations and 2026 Projections

This agreement does not start from scratch. The companies noted that activations were already carried out throughout 2025 with media leaders and social media influencers, who experienced the flight route and the hotel offering firsthand.

Looking ahead to 2026, Arajet and Meliá plan to continue strengthening these experiences with a focus that combines:

All these elements are integrated into the proposal of the INNSiDE by Meliá NOMAD, serving as a meeting point between both worlds.

Meliá Vision: Connectivity and Urban Traveler

Meliá Hotels International defined the alliance as a strategic opportunity to bolster air connectivity between the Dominican Republic and New York, targeting a specific passenger profile.

“For INNSiDE by Meliá, this collaboration with Arajet represents a strategic opportunity to continue strengthening connectivity between the Dominican Republic and New York, and to continue attracting the modern, urban, and culturally connected traveler,” stated Andrew M. Soares, Marketing and Customer Experience Manager, USA Hotels, at Meliá Hotels International.

Soares added that the joint initiatives seek to promote experiences that celebrate gastronomy, culture, and the Latin spirit—differentiating elements of the INNSiDE by Meliá brand within the competitive New York hotel market.

Arajet Perspective: Alliances as a Growth Engine

For Arajet, the alliance fits into a broader strategy of expanding routes and destinations through strategic agreements, especially in key markets like New York.

“The best way to increase the growth of Arajet’s routes and destinations is through strategic alliances,” noted Manuel Luna, Chief Communication Officer of Arajet. “In New York, we are incredibly proud to do this alongside Meliá and its INNSiDE by Meliá NOMAD hotel, a brand that always strives for excellence while maintaining its Latin essence and world-class service”.

The emphasis on Latin identity, service, and a comprehensive passenger experience reinforces Arajet’s positioning as the Dominican flagship airline in high-visibility international markets.
