Emirates has launched a new phase of its fleet retrofit program, utilizing strategic deployments and reconfigurations to expand the reach of its Premium Economy cabin. This initiative strengthens product consistency across key markets in Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, and the Indian Ocean.
The airline is moving forward with the total conversion of its 15 high-density Airbus A380s from a two-class configuration to a three-class layout, while simultaneously redistributing retrofitted aircraft to high-profile commercial routes.
High-Density A380 Conversion: From Two-Class to Three-Class Model
As part of its ongoing modernization program, Emirates expects to complete the update of its first high-density A380—originally configured with two classes—by mid-April.
New Configuration: Enhanced Segmentation, Higher Performance
The aircraft will be reconfigured into a three-class scheme with the following distribution:
- 76 Business Class seats
- 56 Premium Economy seats
- 437 Economy Class seats
This adjustment represents a significant repositioning in terms of revenue management. While the two-class model prioritized volume, the new cabin introduces an additional layer of fare segmentation. This aligns with Emirates’ global strategy to capture higher yields on high-demand routes.
