GOL Linhas Aéreas has confirmed the launch of a new nonstop international route between Asunción and Miami, representing a strategic step within the international expansion plan it presented in 2025. Operations are scheduled to begin in early June, subject to approval from the Paraguayan airport authority, DINAC.
A Strategic Milestone for GOL’s International Network
This new connection will feature four weekly frequencies and marks a technical milestone for the carrier: it will be the longest route ever operated by a GOL Boeing 737 MAX.
The official announcement took place at Mburuvicha Roga, the presidential residence of Paraguay, during an event attended by President Santiago Peña and GOL CEO Celso Ferrer, alongside senior government officials and company executives.
Celso Ferrer described the new operation as a pivotal advancement in the consolidation of the airline’s international network:
“The Asunción-Miami route represents a significant step forward for GOL’s international network, particularly in Paraguay and for overall connectivity throughout the Americas.”

Connecting Paraguay and United States
GOL has maintained a presence in the Paraguayan market for over 20 years, having operated flights between Brazil and Paraguay since December 2005. According to Ferrer, the decision to launch this route addresses a specific demand for direct connectivity between Paraguay and the United States. Once active, it will become the only direct flight between the two countries.
Technical Breakdown: Longest 737 MAX Flight in GOL’s History
From a technical standpoint, the route will cover an approximate distance of 6,154 kilometers, with an estimated flight duration of eight hours. It will surpass the current Brasília–Orlando route, which previously held the record as the longest 737 MAX operation for the company.
Regional and Economic Impact
For Paraguay, the opening of this route signifies a qualitative leap in international connectivity. President Santiago Peña highlighted the anticipated economic benefits:
“Today we celebrate a great moment for Paraguay: GOL’s direct flights between the capital, Asunción, and the city of Miami.”
“These flights will further boost our country’s economy with new business and tourism opportunities.”
Current Network and Service
Currently, GOL operates year-round regular direct flights from Asunción to:
- Sao Paulo/Guarulhos
- Rio de Janeiro/Galeão
With the addition of Miami, the airline expands its Paraguayan offerings beyond its natural market in Brazil. The company stated that ticket sales will begin in the coming weeks through its official channels, including its website, mobile app, and the Smiles loyalty program.
