Iberia has designed an unprecedented summer season for the corridor between Europe and Latin America, consolidating its leadership with a total offering of 3,354,159 seats. This represents a 7.6% growth compared to the previous summer. At the peak of the season, both regions will be connected by up to 366 weekly flights.
This capacity increase in Latin America is not a one-off event; it is part of a defined roadmap. According to the company, the execution of the Flight Plan 2030 has been key to incorporating additional aircraft and expanding both frequencies and destinations.
Argentina: Buenos Aires Surpasses Three Daily Flights
The most significant case is Argentina, which has become the primary focus of expansion this summer. During June, July, and August, Iberia will increase its operations to Buenos Aires to 23 weekly frequencies, up from the current 21. This makes the Argentine capital the company’s first long-haul destination to exceed three daily flights.
In terms of supply, the Madrid–Buenos Aires route will reach 456,000 seats, which is 12% more than last summer. Buenos Aires thus solidifies its position as the Latin American destination with the highest number of frequencies in Iberia’s network.
Mexico: New Route to Monterrey and 36,288 Additional Seats
Mexico is also experiencing a relevant jump in connectivity thanks to the opening of a new route. Starting June 2nd, Iberia will begin operating direct flights between Madrid and Monterrey with three weekly frequencies. This new operation will translate into 36,288 seats during the summer season.
The entry into Monterrey expands Iberia’s presence in the Mexican market and diversifies its offering beyond traditional destinations, reinforcing its positioning in a key country for both corporate and leisure traffic.
Brazil: Recife, Fortaleza, and Increased Capacity in Rio de Janeiro
In Brazil, growth is supported by both new routes and the reinforcement of existing operations. The recent addition of flights to Recife and Fortaleza, combined with increased capacity in Rio de Janeiro, will allow Iberia to offer nearly 400,000 seats this summer. This figure represents a 15% increase compared to the previous summer.
Dominican Republic: Up to 11 Weekly Frequencies and Over 21% Growth
The reinforcement in the Caribbean is also notable. In the case of the Dominican Republic, summer operations will reach between 10 and 11 weekly frequencies, compared to the 7-8 weekly frequencies operated in 2025. This increase will result in a capacity rise of over 21% in terms of seats, one of the largest percentage growths within Iberia’s Latin American network.
Puerto Rico: Jump to 12 Weekly Flights
Connectivity between Puerto Rico and Europe is also strengthened this season. Iberia is moving from operating between 7 and 9 weekly frequencies in 2025 to offering between 10 and 12 weekly frequencies this year.
Santiago de Chile: 12 Frequencies and Nearly 240,000 Seats
In the Southern Cone, the route between Madrid and Santiago de Chile also shows sustained growth. Following the increase in frequencies recorded over the last year, the operation now reaches 12 weekly flights, equivalent to two daily flights five days a week. This allows Iberia to offer nearly 240,000 seats, a 7% increase over the same season last year.
With 3.35 million seats and up to 366 weekly flights, Iberia faces a summer that redefines its operational scale in Latin America.
