Algerian flag carrier Air Algérie has formalized an order for 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. This strategic acquisition aims to renew its operational capacity, expand its international destination network, and elevate passenger service standards.
Fleet Expansion and Modernization Strategy
The announcement, made by the company last Thursday, is part of a national strategy designed to bolster civil aviation in Algeria. The incorporation of these next-generation models will allow the operator to keep pace with the technological advancements of the global aeronautical sector.
Key Objectives of the Acquisition:
- Technological Renewal: Replacing aging equipment with more efficient models.
- Network Growth: Facilitating the launch and consolidation of domestic and international routes.
- Competitiveness: Strengthening the airline’s position in a highly demanding market.
- Quality of Service: Enhancing the travel experience for its end users.
Delivery Schedule and Operational Details
According to the statement issued by the company and released by the state news agency Algérie Presse Service, the American manufacturer will begin the delivery of the units immediately under the following schedule:
- Second half of this year: Delivery of the first five aircraft.
- Next year: Delivery of the remaining five units to complete the order.
Although the financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed, the airline’s leadership emphasized that this move responds to a comprehensive vision to meet the current demands of both domestic and foreign markets.
The airline currently operates a fleet of 58 aircraft, which includes 737-600, 737-700, and 737-800 variants.
