GOL Touches Down in Europe: New Direct Routes to Paris and Lisbon from Rio de Janeiro
GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced the launch of its first direct transatlantic operations to Europe. The airline will provide non-stop connectivity between Rio de Janeiro and both Paris and Lisbon, significantly strengthening its international network.
Transatlantic Expansion and Widebody Fleet
For the first time in its 25-year history, GOL will operate non-stop flights to the European continent. These routes will link RIOgaleão International Airport in Rio de Janeiro with Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport in France and Lisbon Airport in Portugal.
To service these long-haul routes, the carrier will deploy Airbus A330 aircraft. This widebody, twin-aisle model has the capacity to transport nearly 300 passengers. The addition of this fleet type allows the airline to compete in the long-haul market, connecting Brazil with two of Europe’s primary gateways.
Frequency Details
- Lisbon: The service will operate four times per week, with operations scheduled to commence on September 16.
- Paris: Specific details regarding flight schedules and frequencies to the French capital will be announced by the company in the near future.

Premium Experience: Business INSIGNIA Class and Gastronomy
With the launch of these routes, GOL is introducing its new executive class, branded as Business INSIGNIA, designed to offer a high-end travel experience.
Passengers in this cabin will enjoy:

- Access to exclusive VIP lounges at selected airports.
The onboard experience is further enhanced by a signature gastronomic offering. The menu was designed by renowned Brazilian chef Felipe Bronze, holder of two Michelin stars. The service consists of a three-course lunch or dinner that fuses traditional Brazilian ingredients and techniques with a creative vision.
Galeão as a Strategic Hub and GOLLOG Expansion
The selection of Rio de Janeiro-Galeão Airport as the departure point aligns with its role as one of the airline’s primary connection hubs. From this airport, travelers arriving from Europe can connect to more than 30 destinations across Brazil and South America.
Logistics Potential
The arrival of the Airbus A330 also represents a qualitative leap for GOLLOG, the company’s logistics business unit.
- Cargo Capacity: Each aircraft will offer approximately 20 tons of belly-hold capacity.
- Infrastructure: Operations will be conducted using a palletized format, establishing a new international cargo hub for the company.
This expansion not only benefits passenger transport but also positions itself as a vital driver for tourism and business opportunities throughout the region.
