Iberia Group has announced an ambitious operational reinforcement for the Easter holiday season, offering nearly 1.2 million seats.

Easter Operations: A 10% Increase in Flights

For the period between March 27 and April 7, the conglomerate—comprising Iberia, Iberia Express, and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum—has scheduled a total of 7,329 flights. This figure represents a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2025, providing passengers with a total of 1,175,132 seats.

According to Víctor Moneo, the airline’s Global Sales Director, the objective is to ensure a fluid travel experience during the concentrated peak of mobility on these dates. To achieve this, frequencies have been adjusted for high-demand European destinations:

  • Venice: Will add three additional weekly flights.
  • Budapest, Athens, and Prague: Increasing their offer with two new frequencies each.
  • Vienna: Will feature one additional flight.
  • Rome: One of the most requested destinations, where the company will operate wide-body aircraft on certain days—typically utilized for long-haul routes—to maximize capacity.

Iberia Escalates North American Offensive for Summer: Record Capacity and Canada Debut

Newark Route Debut and Expansion in the Americas

On March 29, Iberia will inaugurate its daily connection to Newark Liberty International Airport in the United States. This new route will be operated by the modern Airbus A321XLR.

This is a strategic move, as it complements current operations to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), allowing the airline to offer a total of three daily flights to the New York area. Growth in the U.S. market is notable, with a record number of seats representing a 19% increase over the previous year.

In parallel, connectivity with Latin America is also strengthening, with a 7.6% increase in capacity, exceeding 3.3 million seats for the summer season.

Strategic Vision: The 2030 Flight Plan

This massive deployment of seats and the opening of new routes are part of the “Plan de Vuelo 2030” (2030 Flight Plan), the company’s strategic roadmap for the coming years.

The plan involves an investment of 6 billion euros aimed at bolstering the company’s hub at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. The goal is to position Madrid’s infrastructure at the same level as major European airport hubs, optimizing both the destination network and operational efficiency.
