Wingo Expands International Network from Medellín with New Direct Routes to Guatemala and Jamaica
Wingo is consolidating its position at José María Córdova International Airport by announcing two new direct routes to Guatemala City and Montego Bay, becoming the only airline to operate these non-stop sectors from the Antioquian capital. This expansion reinforces Medellín as a key operational hub for the low-cost carrier (LCC), responding to sustained demand growth in the region.
Medellín: A Strategic Axis for Wingo’s Operations
The significance of Medellín for Wingo is substantial. During 2025, approximately 35% of the airline’s total passenger traffic—roughly 1.2 million travelers—originated from or arrived in the capital of Antioquia.
With this latest announcement, the carrier will reach a total of 10 international destinations operated from Medellín, complementing its network of five domestic routes. According to Jorge Jiménez, Wingo’s Vice President of Commercial and Planning, these routes reflect confidence in the potential of the Antioquian traveler and the search for high-value, low-cost point-to-point destinations.

The airline has established specific schedules for the commencement of these operations, ensuring a competitive offering in terms of frequencies and capacity:
Medellín – Guatemala City
This route aims to replicate the success achieved on the Bogotá-Guatemala City connection, providing a direct alternative for both the corporate and leisure markets.
- Service Start Date: June 25.
- Frequencies: Three times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday).
- Capacity: Over 30,000 seats per year.
- Base Fare: Starting at USD 108 per segment (including taxes and fees).
Medellín – Montego Bay (Jamaica)
After being classified as the airline’s “Hidden Destination” in 2025, Jamaica is now formalized as a scheduled route due to growing interest from the Colombian public.
- Service Start Date: June 23.
- Frequencies: Three times weekly (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday).
- Base Fare: Starting at USD 159 per segment (including taxes and fees).
Tickets for these new destinations are already available through the airline’s official channels. With this move, Wingo not only broadens its network but also reaffirms its commitment to democratizing international air transport from Colombia’s regional hubs.
