Air India has reached a significant milestone in its transformation process with the arrival of its first fully refurbished Boeing 787-8 in Delhi. This aircraft, registered as VT-ANT, represents the beginning of a comprehensive upgrade of the onboard experience for its long-haul fleet.
Total Renewal: From the Interior to a New Visual Identity
The modernization process for this Boeing 787-8 was carried out under the highest industry standards in the United States:
- Cabin Upgrade: The aircraft underwent a complete “nose-to-tail” refurbishment at the Boeing Modification Center located in Victorville, California.
- New Corporate Image: Following the interior enhancements, the aircraft was ferried to AeroPro, a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified painting facility in San Bernardino, California, where the airline’s new and distinctive livery was applied.
- Delivery Flight: After obtaining the necessary regulatory certifications, VT-ANT performed a non-stop delivery flight from San Bernardino to Delhi, crossing the Pacific Ocean to land in the Indian capital at 22:44 hours.

This aircraft is the first of 26 total 787 units scheduled to undergo this upgrade process. The incorporation of these refreshed interiors aims to elevate service standards on strategic routes.
