At the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2026, Airbus unveiled its Airspace “First Class Experience” concept, a next-generation cabin proposal specifically engineered for its flagship widebody, the A350-1000. This development addresses the surging demand for ultra-luxury cabins and redefines interior space utilization to provide a superior, exclusive experience on long-haul routes.

Master Suite: New Standard of Exclusivity

The centerpiece of this showcase is the First Class Master Suite, a large-format living solution developed by Airbus’s in-house design team. Strategically positioned in the center section between the two aisles, this suite is designed to accommodate two passengers in an environment of total privacy.

Key features of the Master Suite include:

  • Exclusive access to a dedicated lavatory.
  • A private dressing area.
  • An integrated bar and a full-size double bed.

Cabin Engineering: The «1-1-1» Configuration

To achieve a three-suite-per-row layout (1-1-1 configuration) without compromising profitability or space, Airbus has executed a deep re-engineering of the aircraft’s forward section. The design maximizes the usable floor space located between Door 1 and Door 2 of the A350-1000.

The key to this optimization lies in the creation of a new Central Module situated immediately behind Door 1, facing the flight deck door. By relocating elements that traditionally occupy revenue-generating space—such as storage closets and lavatories—to this external module, critical square footage is liberated for passenger suites.

Furthermore, Airbus has moved the access stairs for the Forward Crew Rest Compartment (FCRC) into this new central module. This modification not only gains space but also enhances passenger privacy by significantly reducing foot traffic and disturbances caused by crew movements during the flight.

Atmosphere and Technology: Virtual Windows and Spatial Amplitude

The A350-1000 serves as the ideal canvas for this concept due to its cross-section width and high ceilings. Nevertheless, Airbus has introduced aesthetic and technological enhancements to further amplify the sense of openness:

  • Sculpted Ceiling Panels: New fascia and ceiling designs that increase the visual perception of space.
  • Welcome Lighting: An integrated lighting panel at Door 1 designed to improve the ambiance from the moment of boarding.
  • Panoramic Virtual Windows: The center suite features high-definition screens that simulate panoramic windows, eliminating the “closed-in” feeling typical of center-aisle locations and creating an immersive experience.

Market Outlook and Entry into Service

Currently, 10 customers have already opted to include First Class cabins in their A350 orders, some of which are already operational. While current products do not utilize all the innovations of this new concept (such as the central module or virtual windows), industry interest remains robust.

Approximately five airlines are currently in the customization phase for their future cabins, making them the primary candidates to implement elements of the Airspace “First Class Experience” concept. According to Airbus forecasts, the first units equipped with these innovations could enter service starting in 2030. Additionally, the manufacturer confirmed it is in ongoing talks with several airlines in the pre-sale stage to integrate them into the A350 First Class operator ecosystem.

This concept aims to inspire potential customers and demonstrate Airbus’s ability to evolve its flagship model, adapting it to the needs of the highest-yield markets in global commercial aviation.
