Delta Air Lines has announced an investment exceeding $1 billion for fleet modernization, centered on the debut of its next-generation Delta One suites on the Airbus A350-1000 and a comprehensive cabin overhaul of its Airbus A330-200/300 aircraft.
This initiative seeks to raise the standard for comfort and privacy on long-haul flights, with the airline projecting that 90% of Delta One seats will feature sliding privacy doors by the year 2030. The transformation extends beyond the premium cabin, including design and connectivity enhancements across all service classes.
Airbus A350-1000: Delta’s New Flagship
The arrival of the Airbus A350-1000, scheduled for early 2027, will mark a milestone for the airline as its largest and newest aircraft. This aircraft will be delivered in a configuration that prioritizes exclusivity, offering a 50% premium seating mix.
Innovation in Delta One Suite Design
Developed in collaboration with Thompson Aero Seating, the new suite is the result of ten years of customer data analysis. Key features include:
- Increased Roominess: The full-flat beds are now 3 inches (7.6 cm) longer, allowing passengers to stretch out over 6.5 feet (1.98 meters).
- Superior Comfort: A new pillow-top cushion has been incorporated over a memory foam base.
- Privacy and Configuration: The suites utilize an inverted herringbone configuration, where outboard rows face the windows.
- Center Suites: Middle suites feature a sliding divider window for passengers traveling with a companion.
- Smart Storage: Includes dedicated shoe compartments, a reach-in tray for mobile phones, and a dedicated hook for eyeglasses.

Next-Generation Entertainment Technology
Delta has taken a significant technological leap by integrating the next-generation In-Flight Entertainment (IFE) system from Thales, originally unveiled at CES 2025.
- Cinema Screens in the Sky: Delta One passengers on the A350-1000 will enjoy a 24-inch 4K QLED screen, the largest in the airline’s history.
- Total Connectivity: The system allows for personal Bluetooth headphone pairing and offers integrated wireless charging on the console.
- Delta Sync: SkyMiles members can access a personalized experience with real-time travel notifications and content recommendations directly on their screens.
Airbus A330-200/300 Fleet Retrofit
As part of this multi-billion dollar investment, Delta will update its Airbus A330-200/300 fleet to unify the brand experience. For the first time on this fleet, the Delta One cabin will incorporate privacy doors.
Furthermore, design elements consistent with the A350-1000 will be installed, such as customized ambient lighting, touch-controlled seat sensors, wireless charging, and USB-C power ports.
Wellness and Accessibility: A Human-Centric Approach
The airline has introduced exclusive snack stations for Delta One customers, located at the main boarding door on the A350-1000 and at the front of the A330-200/300 cabins, allowing passengers to control their time outside of scheduled meal services.
Commitment to Accessibility
In consultation with its Advisory Board on Disability and Accessible Travel, Delta has integrated:
- Tactile Controls: A new, intuitive seat control center designed to be operated through touch.
- Adapted Lavatories: Each aircraft will feature a dedicated accessible lavatory for customers with reduced mobility.
Enhancements in Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin
The renovation is not limited to business class. In the Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin areas, passengers will find:
- Increased Space: A seat design offering an additional inch of legroom.
- Functionality: Seatback shelves for personal items and larger 4K resolution screens.
- Power: All seats feature USB-C ports and international AC power outlets, ideal for taking advantage of Delta’s fast, free Wi-Fi.
With this rollout, which will be applied to more than 800 aircraft over the next five years, Delta Air Lines reaffirms its leadership position in the industry, focusing on a user experience that seeks to emulate the comfort of home even at 30,000 feet.
