JetBlue launched its seasonal summer service between Boston and Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport this Thursday, strengthening its European expansion strategy and consolidating the Massachusetts capital as a key gateway to the continent. This new connection aims to satisfy the growing demand for leisure, business, and academic travel between New England and the Catalonia region.
Strategic Expansion in the European Market
With the launch of this route, Barcelona becomes JetBlue’s seventh European destination and its second city in Spain, following the start of operations in Madrid last year. This opening is part of the “JetForward” strategy, through which the airline seeks to bolster its leisure network on the U.S. East Coast.
JetBlue President Marty St. George highlighted that this service connects two dynamic global hubs, offering customers more options and value for their transatlantic travel. Furthermore, the airline plans to inaugurate another seasonal route from Boston to Milan on May 11th.
