Korean Air has concluded an ambitious infrastructure renovation process at Incheon International Airport after 42 months of work, officially inaugurating its flagship First Class and Prestige Class West lounges. This transformation, which integrates cutting-edge technology with traditional design, doubles the airline’s capacity to accommodate rising passenger numbers and its upcoming merger with Asiana Airlines.

A Strategic Investment for Global Leadership

The carrier has allocated an investment of 110 billion Korean Won to completely modernize its lounge network at Incheon’s Terminal 2. Following the opening of the West sections on April 16 and 17, Korean Air’s total footprint at the airport has expanded from 5,105 to 12,270 square meters, increasing the number of available seats from 898 to a total of 1,566.

With this expansion, the company will operate a total of seven lounges in the terminal:

  • First Class
  • Miler Club
  • Prestige East Left and Prestige East Right
  • Prestige West
  • Prestige Garden East and Prestige Garden West

First Class Lounge: The Art of Personalized Privacy

The new First Class lounge, spanning 921 square meters, is 2.3 times larger than its predecessor. The design moves away from conventional concepts to focus on a “home away from home” experience, partitioning the space into an open foyer and 11 private suites to ensure maximum exclusivity prior to boarding.

World-Class Details

  • Gastronomy: A-la-carte dining service featuring traditional recipes. The tableware includes Bernardaud porcelain, Baccarat and Riedel glassware, Christofle cutlery, and pieces by Korean artisans such as Lee Ki-jo and Lee Hyung-geun.
  • Wellness: A dedicated wellness zone equipped with premium massage chairs and shower suites with independent vanities.

Prestige Class West Lounge: Maximum Capacity and Technological Efficiency

The Prestige Class West lounge stands as the largest individual facility at Incheon International Airport, covering 2,615 square meters with a capacity for over 420 passengers. Its design utilizes a color palette of gold, black, and ivory, aligned with the visual identity of the airline’s premium cabins.

Services for Business and Leisure Travelers

  • Culinary Experience: A buffet featuring Korean and Western cuisine, live cooking stations, and a full-service bar. Highlights include desserts crafted by Grand Hyatt chefs and traditional sweets (yakgwa).
  • Technology and Productivity: It features a dedicated Tech Zone with workstations for corporate passengers, complemented by dynamic digital art that changes according to the viewing angle and time of day.

The completion of these works at Incheon is only one part of the company’s infrastructure master plan. Korean Air has confirmed that it will continue with similar upgrades at other key hubs, including Gimpo International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York, aiming to ensure a consistent premium service experience across its entire international network.
