Porter Airlines announced this Thursday an ambitious expansion for the 2026-2027 winter season, adding four new international destinations and exceeding 40 routes to sun markets. This growth represents an increase of over 150% in operational capacity toward warm-weather destinations compared to the previous year, consolidating its footprint across the Caribbean, Central America, and Mexico.
Strategic Expansion with the Embraer E195-E2 Fleet
The cornerstone of this expansion is the integration of the Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Leveraging the efficiency and range of these airframes, the airline has successfully extended its network from Eastern Canada into new regions. The new destinations joining the itinerary this year are:
- Aruba
- San Jose, Costa Rica
- Montego Bay, Jamaica
- Los Cabos, Mexico
These cities join the carrier’s current offering, which already includes services to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Nassau, Grand Cayman, and Liberia.
Historic Milestone in Alberta and Western Connectivity
For the first time in its history, Porter will operate international flights from the province of Alberta. Edmonton will see the launch of routes to Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Meanwhile, Calgary will add a daily service to Phoenix.
A key pillar of the Western strategy is the strengthening of service to Phoenix. In addition to the new routes from Alberta, the airline will resume flights from Vancouver and introduce a second daily frequency from Toronto. All these flights allow for seamless connectivity to the extensive domestic network of its partner, American Airlines.

In-Flight Experience: Elevating Passenger Standards

On flights operated by the new Embraer E195-E2s, the company also offers free high-speed Wi-Fi for all travelers, reinforcing its value proposition against the competition.
Network Outlook and Growth
With nearly 5,000 flights scheduled for the upcoming winter season, Porter Airlines aims to build upon the success achieved during its inaugural year of operations to markets in the Southern United States.
Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting, noted that this announcement expands the airline’s network to two new countries and four additional cities. The strategy not only aims to offer more vacation options but also to provide competitive alternatives for Canadian travelers through a network that now spans from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
