United Airlines will launch its most ambitious summer schedule to date this week, incorporating non-stop services to strategic destinations in Croatia, Italy, Scotland, and Spain. This expansion seeks to capitalize on growing passenger interest in cultural and coastal experiences in less conventional destinations across the European continent.
Strategic Expansion: Five New European Destinations
Starting April 30, 2026, United Airlines will operate up to 210 daily flights during peak demand periods between the United States and 36 destinations in Europe. This figure includes 14 destinations not served by any other U.S. network carrier, consolidating its competitive advantage in the transatlantic market.
The new additions for this season include:
- Split, Croatia: The airline’s first non-stop service to the Dalmatian Coast will begin on April 30 with three weekly frequencies.
- Bari, Italy: United will be the only airline to connect directly with the gateway to Puglia, offering four weekly flights starting May 1.
- Glasgow, Scotland: The only daily non-stop service to Scotland’s cultural capital will be launched on May 8.
- Santiago de Compostela, Spain: On May 27, the historic first service to this pilgrimage destination will begin from Newark Liberty International Airport, with three weekly flights.
- Reykjavik, Iceland: A daily connection from Washington-Dulles starting May 21, notable for being the only capital-to-capital route offering lie-flat seats in business class.
Continuity and Growth: Resumption of Seasonal Routes
Following the success achieved in the 2025 expansion, the company will resume key seasonal services, in some cases moving forward start dates to meet early demand.
Among the services returning from Newark are:
- Faro, Portugal: Four weekly flights starting May 15.
- Madeira Island, Portugal: Three weekly flights beginning May 16, three weeks earlier than the previous season.
- Palermo, Italy: Three weekly frequencies starting May 22.
- Bilbao, Spain: Three weekly flights from May 30.
- Nuuk, Greenland: Two weekly flights starting June 6, advancing its start by one week compared to 2025.
Additionally, the connection between Tokyo/Narita and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, will be maintained with three weekly flights starting April 30.

United Airlines’ strategy for 2026 responds to a shift in consumer behavior, as travelers actively seek destinations outside of traditional tourist circuits.
