Air Transat has achieved a significant milestone in Canadian air connectivity by inaugurating its new non-stop route between Ottawa International Airport and London-Gatwick. This service bolsters the airline’s footprint in the transatlantic market, solidifying the Canadian capital as a strategic gateway to the European continent.
Growth Strategy and Connectivity
The inaugural flight departed on Friday, May 15, establishing a direct link between the capitals of Canada and the United Kingdom.
Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat, emphasized that the airline is currently the only carrier offering non-stop flights on this segment. Furthermore, the integration with Porter Airlines’ connecting flight network, which operates from various points across Canada and the United States, allows the Canadian capital to enhance its profile as a key gateway to Europe for North American travelers.
