JetBlue launched its daily seasonal operations between Boston and Milan-Malpensa Airport this Monday, marking the U.S. carrier’s historic debut in Italy. This strategic move significantly expands its transatlantic network and optimizes connectivity.
Strategic Expansion in the European Market
With the addition of Milan, the airline increases its nonstop daily destinations to Europe from Boston to nine during the summer season. This opening comes just weeks after the launch of the Barcelona, Spain route, reaffirming the airline’s steady investment in its Boston hub.
The airline’s transatlantic network in Boston currently consists of the following:
- Year-round services: Continuous operational connections to Amsterdam, London-Heathrow, and Paris.
- Summer seasonal services: Active routes to Barcelona, Dublin, Edinburgh, London-Gatwick, Madrid, and now Milan.
Fleet Details and Onboard Experience
The route will be operated using Airbus A321 aircraft. True to its corporate philosophy, the airline offers different service levels tailored to the needs of today’s passengers:
Mint® Experience (Premium)
- Features private, fully lie-flat suites.
- Offers a gastronomic proposal based on restaurant-style small plates designed by acclaimed New York City establishments.
EvenMore® Category
- Includes extra legroom and early boarding.
- Features additional benefits such as dedicated overhead bin space, complimentary alcoholic beverages, premium snacks, and headsets upon request.
- Provides access to priority security lanes at select airports.
Core Experience (Economy)
- Provides complimentary brand-name snacks, sodas, coffee, tea, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Offers a high-quality complimentary meal crafted by culinary partner Dig Inn.
Additionally, all passengers across all three classes have access to seatback screens with a robust entertainment offering and internet connectivity via the Fly-Fi system, which is free, unlimited, and high-speed.
Itineraries and Launch Fares
The daily seasonal service will remain operational until October 5, 2026. The planned schedules in local time are as follows:
Flight Schedule
- Flight #331 (BOS – MXP): Departs at 6:25 p.m. and arrives at 8:10 a.m. the following day.
- Flight #332 (MXP – BOS): Departs at 10:00 a.m. and arrives at 12:47 p.m. the same day.
Introductory One-Way Fares
To celebrate the inaugural flight, the company has enabled limited promotional fares on its official website, jetblue.com:
- Passengers departing from Boston: Fares starting at $399 in Core, $649 in EvenMore, and $2,199 in Mint.
- Passengers departing from Milan: Fares starting at €449 in Core, €659 in EvenMore, and €1,799 in Mint.
The commencement of this route has received strong support from airport and regional authorities in Italy. Marty St. George, President of JetBlue, highlighted that this first destination in Italy represents an exciting milestone that broadens the reach of their transatlantic network with a value proposition based on exceptional service and everyday value.
