United Airlines to Resume Direct Flights Between Houston and Caracas Starting in August
United Airlines announced this Tuesday that it will resume daily, non-stop flights between its hub at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston and Caracas starting August 11, 2026. This operation marks the U.S. carrier’s return to Venezuela after suspending its services in June 2017.
Restoration of a Strategic and Economic Bridge
The reactivation of this air route represents the reopening of a fundamental economic gateway for the region. The link will not only open new commercial opportunities but will also significantly facilitate the reunification of thousands of families.
From Houston, the airline currently offers up to 100 daily operations to more than 50 destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Thanks to this network, travelers coming from Venezuela will be able to connect from Houston to more than 180 destinations around the world.
Additionally, United Airlines will inaugurate the transformation of Terminal B in Houston at the end of this year. This infrastructure project involves a $2 billion investment and will offer 22 new gates for the mainline fleet, as well as housing the largest United Club lounge in its entire network system.

Fleet and Onboard Experience: Next-Generation Comfort and Connectivity
The airline will operate the route using state-of-the-art narrow-body aircraft. Flights will be conducted on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, designed to offer a premium experience on medium-haul routes.
Customers traveling on this service will have the following onboard amenities:

- Premium Content: Access to the latest entertainment offerings from leading streaming platforms such as Apple TV, HBO Max, Spotify, and Peacock.

- Satellite Connectivity: Upcoming implementation of high-speed internet via the Starlink Wi-Fi system.
Government Support and Boost to the Energy Sector
The company’s return to Venezuelan territory carries a strong component of institutional cooperation and commercial interest, particularly linked to the region’s energy industry.
“After nearly a decade, United welcomes the opportunity to resume service between Houston and Venezuela thanks to the leadership and support of the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the United States government,” said Patrick Quayle, Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances at United Airlines. The executive added that this flight will strengthen cultural and economic ties in the Americas, consolidating the Houston hub as the premier gateway to the region.
For his part, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean P. Duffy highlighted the geopolitical value of the operation:
“United’s first flight to Venezuela in eight years marks another exciting step forward in the relationship between our two countries. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, my Department is proud to partner with United to make this historic day a reality. This specific flight will be fundamental for the transportation of oil sector workers, as the United States and Venezuela collaborate to expand production and generate new economic opportunities.”
